New rules around the advertising of mobile data tariffs
The communications ombudsman has announced new rules around the advertising of mobile data tariffs, and the pricing of overseas internet use, in an attempt to protect consumers against huge mobile phone bills.
Many consumers do not check the cost of internet access abroad and run up enormous costs.
Consumers are now more at risk as smartphones tend to be permanently connected to the internet unless the data connection is manually switched off in the phone’s settings.
